Ella and a small group of Drove Beef Club members to an AHDB Marketing Prime Beef event at an abattoir in today.
The group had the opportunity to make an assessment of fat cover and confirmation in the live animals before finding out the actual classification of the animals on the hook.
They discussed factors affecting killing out percentages and dressing specifications whilst also covering discussion on consumer demands, breed characteristics and abattoir requirements.
They all had a great day and learnt a lot!
